Garrett Wilson, the New York Jets’ rookie wide receiver, had a telling one-word answer to a postgame question on September 25, 2023, after the Jets lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
After the game, Wilson was asked by reporters if he felt that the team did enough to try and exploit the Ravens secondary.
Wilson simply replied, “No.”
Wilson’s one-word answer was a telling indictment of the Jets’ offense on Sunday. The Jets were only able to score 10 points against the Ravens, and Wilson was only targeted three times.
Wilson’s answer was also a sign of his frustration with the team’s offense. Wilson has been one of the Jets’ most explosive players in the preseason, but he has yet to have a breakout game in the regular season.
The Jets are still a young team, and they are still learning how to win. However, Wilson’s one-word answer showed that he is already tired of losing.
Wilson’s answer also sparked a debate among Jets fans. Some fans were critical of Wilson for being so outspoken, while others defended him for being honest.
“Garrett Wilson is right,” one fan tweeted. “The Jets offense didn’t do enough to exploit the Ravens secondary.”
“Wilson is still a rookie,” another fan tweeted. “He needs to learn how to be a team player and keep his frustration to himself.”

Only time will tell if Wilson’s one-word answer will have a negative impact on his relationship with the Jets’ coaching staff. However, it is clear that Wilson is a player who wants to win, and he is not afraid to speak his mind.
My thoughts
I think it’s refreshing to see a player like Garrett Wilson be so honest after a loss. He’s clearly not afraid to speak his mind, which is a good thing.
I also think it’s important to remember that Wilson is still a rookie. He’s still learning the ropes, and he’s still trying to figure out his role on the team.
It’s understandable that he’s frustrated with the team’s offense. They’ve struggled to score points all season long.
However, I think Wilson is smart enough to know that he can’t let his frustration get the best of him. He needs to stay focused and keep working hard.
I’m confident that Wilson will eventually become a star for the Jets. He’s too talented not to. But he needs to be patient and keep working hard.
