Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked on his weekly radio show if the team misses having Ezekiel Elliott on the field. Elliott was released by the Cowboys in March after seven seasons with the team.
“We miss Zeke,” Jones said. “He was a great player for us for a long time. But we believe that we have the running backs in place to be successful without him.”
The Cowboys have two young running backs in Tony Pollard and Malik Davis. Pollard has been the Cowboys’ primary running back this season, and he has rushed for 383 yards and three touchdowns in three games. Davis has rushed for 123 yards and one touchdown in three games.
Jones said that he is confident in Pollard and Davis’ ability to carry the load in the running game.
“We have two very talented running backs in Tony Pollard and Malik Davis,” Jones said. “We believe that they can be a dynamic duo for us in the running game.”
However, some Cowboys fans are not convinced that Pollard and Davis can replace Elliott. Elliott was a two-time All-Pro running back, and he was one of the most productive running backs in the NFL during his time with the Cowboys.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Cowboys can be successful without Elliott in the backfield. However, Jones is confident that the team has the running backs in place to be successful.
