Two men saved a Patriots fan’s life at Sunday night’s game against the Raiders. The fan, who has not been identified, went into cardiac arrest in the fourth quarter of the game.
Two men, who were sitting in the same row as the fan, immediately jumped into action. One man, who has been identified as Todd Leary, began performing CPR on the fan. The other man, who has not been identified, called 911.
Leary continued to perform CPR on the fan until paramedics arrived. The paramedics were able to revive the fan, and he was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Leary is a certified CPR instructor and has been teaching CPR for over 20 years. He said that he knew he had to act quickly when he saw the fan go into cardiac arrest.
“I knew that every second counted,” Leary said in an interview with the Boston Globe. “I just started doing CPR and prayed for the best.”
The fan’s family has thanked Leary and the other man for saving their loved one’s life.
“We are so grateful to Todd and the other man for saving my husband’s life,” the fan’s wife said in a statement. “They are true heroes.”
My parents are at the Patriots game with their friends and someone in their section just had a heart attack and my dad's friend (also a firefighter) started giving him CPR and saved his life.
Forget the football. This is the best thing I've heard all day ❤️ wow

Here are some additional thoughts on the incident:
- It is heartening to see that people are willing to help others in need. Leary and the other man did not hesitate to jump into action when they saw the fan go into cardiac arrest.
- This incident is also a reminder that CPR is a life-saving skill. Everyone should learn CPR so that they can help others in need.
- If you are ever in a situation where you need to perform CPR, remember these steps:
- Call 911.
- Place the person on their back on a firm surface.
- Kneel next to the person’s chest and place the heel of your hand on the center of their chest.
- Place your other hand on top of the first hand and interlock your fingers.
- Use your upper body weight to push down on the person’s chest, compressing it by about 2 inches.
- Push down hard and fast, at a rate of about 100 compressions per minute.
- Continue CPR until help arrives.
By learning CPR, you can help save a life.
