Stefon Diggs was not happy with Bart Scott’s comments about his brother Trevon’s ACL injury. Scott, an ESPN analyst, made light of the injury during a segment on “First Take” on Friday.
“This is a major, major blow for Dallas and like Stephen A. says, ‘Just wait, something bad always happens,'” Scott said.
Diggs responded to Scott’s comments on Twitter, calling him a “clown.”
“Bart Scott. Like what did you gain from that?” Diggs tweeted. “Other than looking like a (clown).”
Diggs was not the only one who was critical of Scott’s comments. Scott’s co-hosts on “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Clark, also condemned his remarks.
“I think it was a callous, insensitive comment,” Smith said. “I think it was a joke that fell flat. I think it was a joke that was in poor taste.”
“I think it was a stupid comment,” Clark said. “I think it was a foolish comment. I think it was a comment that showed his true character.”
THIS IS DISGUSTING: ESPN analyst Bart Scott making a joke about Trevon Diggs season ending injury.
I don’t ever like to call for anyone’s job because we’ve all got family’s to support, but this is unacceptable.

Scott later apologized for his comments.
“I apologize for my comments about Trevon Diggs’ injury,” Scott said in a statement. “I was trying to be funny, but my words were insensitive and inappropriate. I wish Trevon a speedy recovery.”
Diggs accepted Scott’s apology, but he said that he was still disappointed with Scott’s initial comments.
“I appreciate the apology,” Diggs said in a tweet. “But I’m still not happy with what he said. It was uncalled for.”
Trevon Diggs is expected to miss the entire 2023 NFL season with his ACL injury. He is one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and his absence will be a major blow to the Cowboys.
Here are some additional thoughts on Stefon Diggs’ reaction to Bart Scott’s comments:
- Diggs was right to be upset with Scott’s comments. It was insensitive and inappropriate to make light of a player’s injury.
- Scott’s apology was appreciated, but it does not excuse his initial comments.
- It is important to remember that athletes are people too. They have feelings and emotions just like everyone else.
- We should all be more mindful of what we say about athletes, especially when they are injured.
