Ex-Ohio State Star Maurice Clarett Calls Out Buckeyes Play-Calling

Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett has called out the Buckeyes’ play-calling, saying that it is “too predictable” and “not creative enough.”

Clarett, who won a national championship with Ohio State in 2002, made the comments in an interview with ESPN. He said that the Buckeyes need to do a better job of mixing things up on offense and that they need to find ways to get their playmakers the ball in space.

“They’re too predictable,” Clarett said. “They run the same plays over and over again. They don’t do enough to get their playmakers the ball in space. They need to be more creative.”

Clarett’s comments come after Ohio State struggled to score points in its last two games, both of which were close wins. The Buckeyes scored just 21 points against Notre Dame and 22 points against Arkansas State.

“They need to find ways to get the ball to their playmakers,” Clarett said. “They have some of the best players in the country, but they’re not using them to their full potential.”

Clarett’s comments were met with mixed reactions from Ohio State fans. Some fans agreed with Clarett, saying that the Buckeyes’ play-calling is too predictable. Other fans defended the Buckeyes’ play-calling, saying that it is effective and that it allows the Buckeyes to play to their strengths.

“Clarett is right,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “The Buckeyes’ play-calling is too predictable. They need to start mixing things up.”

“The Buckeyes’ play-calling is fine,” another fan wrote on Twitter. “They’re winning games, and that’s all that matters.”

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has not publicly responded to Clarett’s comments. However, he has said in the past that he is always looking for ways to improve the Buckeyes’ offense.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve,” Day said. “We want to be as creative as possible and we want to find ways to get our playmakers the ball in space.”

Whether or not the Buckeyes need to change their play-calling remains to be seen. However, Clarett’s comments are a reminder that there is always room for improvement.
