Goff’s comments drew a round of “OOOOHHs” from the group, and he then told Fitzpatrick he was joking and just giving him a hard time. “Matt Ryan is a hell of a player. I’m giving you a hard time,” Goff said. “I appreciate it, man.”
Fitzpatrick tried to save face by saying Ryan, who is currently not playing for any team, is a “pretty good player.” Goff agreed that Ryan is a “hell of a player” before telling Fitzpatrick he was just giving him “a hard time.”
The exchange between Goff and Fitzpatrick was lighthearted, but it also highlighted the competitive nature of the NFL and the pressure that players face to perform at a high level. Goff is no exception. He was traded to the Lions from the Los Angeles Rams last offseason, and he is looking to prove himself with his new team.
Goff’s performance against the Packers was a step in the right direction. He threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns, and he did not turn the ball over.
